One of the greatest French novels to be written, Les Misérables has been adapted into movies many times. It has also been made into a Broadway musical, which even starred our very own Lea Salonga [for the role of Eponine].
I’ve started reading the novel but I haven’t finished the first volume [Fantine] yet due to my busy schedule. To those who don’t know, the novel is divided into five long volumes and I own an abridged version. But the book is still so thick.
And now, they’re making a film version of the musical and I must say that I’m so psyched! I hope it’s December already because just watching the trailer gets me so thrilled. They also chose a powerhouse cast consisting of great actors and actresses such as Hugh Jackman, Russel Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, etc. I am ready for this movie!
I hope they give justice to the Eponine-Marius-Cosette love triangle, unlike the one in 1998 film which didn’t include an Eponine but did have a very handsome Marius.
Try reading the plot of the novel here. The story’s really interesting and it has a lot of twists and turns.
